The last few days have seen us taking wedding photographs (Sarah & Dan Pictures soon) portrait photographs pictures below…
Today did PR photos for Eric Robinson Solicitors it was staff pictures for their Chandlersford office it all went well despite not having a lot of time they are very busy so trying to get a group shot of everyone was a bit tricky but we managed.
This Saturday I have a wedding at East Horton Golf Centre and a 21st birthday party to photograph in the evening and on Sunday it’s the East Horton Golf club championship which means playing 36 holes of golf, so a pretty busy weekend ahead.
Hi, I seem to spend so much time on the computer I sometimes wonder if I am a wedding & portrait photographer or a computer operator!! Still I guess it is just a fact of being a photographer in the 21st century. I recently have had a few emails from other photographers offering to do the computer work i.e. sorting and colour correcting work for me, which sounds great it would free up a lot of my working week, and I would then be free to do other things, but I am reluctant to trust someone else to do things the way I do them, perhaps I should give it ago. I know that a few of the people that read this blog are photographers so if you are reading this and thinking I send my work out and it’s fine or you have tried this but wasn’t happy can you contact me with your thoughts.
Last Saturday we had a wonderful wedding at Otterbourne Church followed by a reception at Chilworth Manor once the pictures are sorted I will put up a few for you to see. This coming Saturday we have 2 weddings one at Tudor Merchants Hall in Southampton then over to the Dolphin Hotel (Mike is taking this one) I am back at Otterbourne Church (I haven’t been to this church for 5 years then 2 weeks on the trot, Spooky) followed by the reception at the Hilton Hotel in Chillworth.
Well back to the computer grindstone. I will blog soon Colin.
Hi, this week saw us going to West Meon to shoot a wedding, I can’t believe how lucky we were with the weather, before and after Saturday the weather was awful but Saturday was great.
Stuart & Faye were married at West Meon Church, it’s a very pretty church but quite difficult to find, the satnav took me to the right place I could see the church but I couldn’t find how to get to it, it turned out that there was a single track road that went behind the local pub that took you up to the church.
I went to Fayes home first and believe it or not everyone was ready when I got there, (that may not seem unusual unless you are a wedding photographer reading this, brides are never ready) so I was able to take a few pictures there before heading back to the church to meet up with Stuart and his Dad Norm who was the bestman.
Here are a couple of pictures followed by a slideshow of about 20 if you want to see more…

Good morning I am writing to you from my office on a very dreary wet morning, no portraits at the Botleigh Grange (incidentally it is now known as the Legacy Botleigh Grange Hotel) no weddings, nothing a day off, so I thought I would quickly update my blog whilst my wife is getting ready to greet the day.
I did another wedding at New Place, we seem so be there quite often, places seem to go in and out of fashion and New Place is obviously in at the moment which is great for us as the grounds and the house are perfect for the photos.
Here are a few images from Kate & Jon’s wedding at St.Barnabas Church then on to New Place in Shirrell Heath.

Well that’s it, it really was a fabulous day in every respect.
Hi, we really are busy at the moment with lots of portraits and weddings every weekend now, mind you I am not complaining, it’s much better to be busy than sitting around waiting for the phone to ring.
We recently shot a wedding for our next door neighbours daughter Helen, it was a wonderful day and Helen looked amazing and Matt scrubbed up pretty good too.
Helen & Matt were married at Swanmore Church with the reception taking place at New Place in Shirrell Heath.

Then the vicar dropped the ring! Guess who picked it up?
Ring retrieved on with the service.
A lovely moment.

A great day was had by all. Congratulations Helen & Matt.
Hi I have had a request to see a couple of pictures taken on HMS Warrior in Portsmouth, I said yes no problem, however I haven’t been on HMS Warrior for some time and what I didn’t realise was that most of the pictures I did have were shot on film so not easy to get onto the net quickly.
I did manage to find these few pictures from about 5 years ago, These were shot on the Fuji S1 Pro which at the time was a revolutionary camera, in fact it was the camera that started me and I am sure lots of other photographers down the interesting and at times frustrating but ultimately rewarding road of digital photography.

We had another family portrait day yesterday at the Botleigh Grange Hotel it all went well 5 very nice families and one no show. I should be able to get some more pictures from last Sundays family portrait day up on here soon, once we get the ok from the clients.
Hi, here at Colin Charles Photography we are going green. We have decided not to use wedding or portrait proof books anymore and we expect this to save in the region of 5,000 A4 sheets of photographic paper every year. To replace the proof book we are going to supply cd’s that work on your computer just like a proof book but without using all that paper. I know it is not going to save the planet on it’s own but if we all do a little that adds up to a lot. We have been using this new method for the last 5 months and have had no problems or complaints so this is definitely the way forward.
Must go now I have to be up early in the morning, I am playing golf at East Horton Golf Centre tomorrow tee off 7:15am so goodnight for now.
Hi, Sounds a bit Startrekky but it is actually the name of the room I am in at the Botleigh Grange Hotel, yes its another family portrait day at the Botleigh Grange.
I have just photographed the most adorable baby her name is Daisy and she performed like a professional model. I couldn’t resist putting one picture up here whilst I am having a short break.
I still have six more portraits to do so it is a pretty hectic day but that’s all part of the fun of being a pro photographer.
Must go my next one will be here any moment and I haven’t drunk my tea yet. Blog soon Colin
Hi everyone, I have been on holiday if you were wondering why the blog hasn’t been updated recently. Just over 2 weeks sailing around the Caribbean on the P&O Sea Princess, it was absolutely fabulous, pure luxury and way too much food.
The beach in Trinidad
I even managed to get a game of golf whilst in Jamaica, a course called White Witches it was an amazing golf course we even had caddies. What a great day it was.
Right back to the real world. I did a really nice wedding on Saturday Lyn & Andrew at the Forrest Lodge Hotel in Lyndhurst. The weather was perfect and we got some really nice pictures. I haven’t been to Forrest Lodge Hotel for a few years I couldn’t beleive the transformation it’s much bigger and very plush a really nice place for a wedding.
This Friday I have a wedding at New Place in Shirrell Heath I really like it there it’s another great venue, I will report back on this next week. No wedding on Saturday but on Sunday I have 10 Family portraits to do at The Botleigh Grange Hotel, so a busy weekend in prospect.
I have just bought a new set of studio portrait lights my old ones have been slowly falling apart and as I am doing so many portraits at the moment I couldn’t put off buying these any longer. I went for the Bowens 500 Esprite kit it will be great not having to panic that the lights will pack up half way through a portrait session.
Hi, this week is turning out to be quite a busy one, we have gained a new contract from a very large legal firm in our area and they have given us 5 jobs already. I have 2 Graphi Studio wedding albums to design and order by Friday so that on it’s own is quite a task, but the satisfaction of seeing the finished result definitely makes the effort worthwhile. Graphi wedding albums are simply stunning, if you have never seen one you should, they are the finest wedding albums / coffee table books available.
The portraits are still coming in thick ad fast, we have had an amazing number from the Nectar Card promotion, this was definitely worth doing.
Wedding enquiries are at a good level so far this year so it looks like this could be a very good year for wedding photography, fingers crossed.
Right I have to go and get started on the day, I will blog soon Colin
